Official description
Description
The Town's latest landscaping contract includes targets for electrification of 25% of equipment fleet in 2022, 50% in 2023 and scheduled to move to 75% in 2024. The Town's contractor has experienced some electrification and equipment failure challenges, particularly with larger equipment. New regulation from the Air Quality Control Commission requires local governments in the ozone non-attainment area (like Superior) to stop using gas-powered push mowers and hand-held equipment during high ozone season (specifically June 1 to August 31) beginning in 2025. Our contractor is well-prepared to comply with the new regulation and the Town continues to work toward landscaping electrification where feasible.
