Adopt and implement an EV-ready building ordinance for new residential and commercial buildings.
(According to the action plan)

The Town adopted the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) into its municipal code, which includes the following requirements for EV-readiness in new development in the Town:

  • For new construction and major commercial alterations:
    • 20% of available parking spaces must be EV ready
    • 20% of available parking spaces must be EV capable
    • 10% of available parking spaces must have EV supply equipment installed
  • For commercial multi-family buildings (4 stories or greater):
    • 25% of available parking spaces must be EV ready
    • 50% of available parking spaces must be EV capable
    • 25% of available parking spaces must have EV supply equipment installed
