Official description

Get out of or improve existing contracts to include year-round curbside composting as soon as possible. This will require strong collaboration with the HOAs.
(According to the action plan)

Description

In October 2024, the Town Board approved a contract with Republic Services for weekly garbage collection, weekly recycling, and compost collection every other week using electric collection trucks starting on April 1, 2025, for all residents currently under the Town contract. The Town has transitioned from a flat rate to a volume-based pay-as-you-throw cost model that allows residents to choose cart sizes and pay based on the garbage cart they select, further incentivizing waste reduction. For those residents not currently under the Town contract, such as those living in the Rock Creek HOA, the Town Board passed an ordinance in September 2024 to eliminate the exclusion of HOA-managed areas from the Town’s single-service residential waste service provider area. Rock Creek HOA residents along with other HOAs under the Rock Creek contract will be included in the Town’s contract once the HOA’s current contract ends in 2028.
